For a guy who doesn’t blog much I sure change themes alot. It seems I have too many categories for this one’s top menu bar. Not a deal breaker. Sorry about all the ads. It will get some cleanup and customization shortly. Like it matters. No one reads this but me.

Yesterday I broke my son’s heart
November 29th, 2008
Jason That sounds prety bad huh? Well it was.
A little background. I am not the brightest light on the tree (seasonal). Why? I like cats and I am allergic to them. Prolonged exposure to them gives me athsma like symptoms. You know, the inability to breathe. I have a cat. Told you, not too bright. Actually it’s my wife’s cat. Had him before we met she did. He’s cool so I let him move in. Who am I to make her get rid of her cat?
Nine years later. I can barely breathe in my own house. Wheezing, shortness of breath, trouble sleeping. I take several medications and still I suffer. Not too bright right? Get rid of the damn cat you say. It’s only logical.
Enter my five year old son. This cat has been a fixture in his life since birth. They sleep together. He packs the cat around like a stuffed animal. They play together. They are like brothers. You dont get rid of your brother right?
Yesterday my wonderful wife offered to get rid of the cat. It wasnt the first time, but I had a particularly bad night and hardly slept at all. She was much more forceful with her offer than ever before. I had to admit the prospect of no cat and an ability to breathe was attractive. The downside of it all is what bothered me. She loves the cat, my son loves the cat, and yes, I love the cat. He has always been here. We talked about it and she decided it would be the best thing. Fortunately, her mom likes cats and would provide a home for him. Unfortunately, her mom lives a thousand miles away in another state. Plane ticket anyone?
We talked for a good hour about it and finally agreed that it was the best thing. My breathing is surely more important than the cat and our love for him, right? I still don’t like the decision, but if it helps me breathe I’ll deal with it.
So what do we tell the kids? The truth. We sat them down and explained the what and why. The three year old daughter was ambivalent. Big deal. My son took the completely opposite attitude. The only way he could accept it was when I told him it was the cat or me. One of us would have to move out. He scared me a little because he paused and looked at me sideways before he said the cat has to go then. For a second I thought I might be the one leaving. Of course this did not mean it was going to be easy.
Today it’s better. He plays with the cat without crying. He isn’t hiding in his bedroom. He is normal. He is maximizing the time he has left. The cat leaves on the plane December 13th. I know his heart is broken and I know he’ll show me again. It’s why I suffered for so long. I would rather wheeze and cough and be unable to function than see my children in pain.
My advice. Don’t have kids and allergies at the same time.
First an update.

Jason Giveaway of the day has become a disappointment of late. The last 10 offerings have been crap. I still look, but there isn’t much offered that is worth even reading about, let alone downloading. Of course your opinion may vary.

Jason Wow what a day. Back from the long weekend and one of my coworkers up and quits. I kinda saw it coming but still. I overheard a phone call last week that contained the word “offer” and the phrases ” discuss with family” and make the right decision”. Pretty much writing on the wall for most people but it was still a shocker. Well, no matter. I wish this person well and hope the choice was a good one. Someone who works so hard will be missed.
Also went to the gym today. It was a little hard after taking four days off. Ya I’m a slug. So what! It feels so good to work out though. Amazing what it does for your peace of mind. I have to get a work out routine pout together so I can meet my goals. Oh wait, I should set goals first.
If you live in The Las Vegas area, I suggest checking out the LVAC if you havent already. Great clubs, good rates and daycare too. lvac.com is the site. They are always running sign up specials.
I got more but I need to play withe kids before bed.

Jason I gotta tell you, finding a theme that I like has been a pain. This simple one is good, for now. We’ll see how it goes. The author says I can load my own pics in the header. That may make it a keeper. We’ll see.
Ok it’s coming along

Jason Spent a little time playing with this thing today. Getting the hang of it. Found out how to add pics from my phone via Flickr. Pretty cool. Not sure what I’ll do with that but the fact I can is something right?
Working on some other stuff too. It will get better.

Jason I seem to be having a time with it. I want to learn this sucker so I can make my page cool a functional. Thing is I am not really in the mood to learn a bunch of coding. I was hoping it was going to be much more noob friendly. Maybe it’s just me and I haven’t committed myself to it yet. We’ll see. Not like I am spending hours learning it. Who has time!!
